South Carolina Facility is Building Pre-Production BMW X7 Models

January 16th, 2018 by

In December of last year, BMW Group revealed that pre-production models of the new BMW X7 Sports Activity Vehicle were being built at the company’s Spartanburg, South Carolina plant. This is the initial step in a year-long process that ends when the production X7 debuts at the end of 2018, after the SAV is tested in a variety of extreme conditions.

In a harmony of optimization, BMW is using the same assembly line for the pre-production BMW X7 and the BMW X5 and BMW X6 production models. A team of trained specialists take over the finishing steps in order to complete the production and testing process, which includes adding a camouflage wrap to the pre-production models before the SAVs leave the plant in order to hide the SAVs final design as much as is possible. In a press release, Knudt Flor, head of the BMW Group Spartanburg plant, observed, We are proud to produce the BMW X7 here in Spartanburg, the home of our X models. This is a very special vehicle and our employees are looking forward to yet a further member of the X family. Together with the BMW X7, a total of five BMW X models will be exported from Spartanburg to all four corners of the globe.

At BMW of Annapolis, we take pride in serving BMW drivers from throughout the greater Annapolis area, including Highland Beach and Hillsmere Shores.
