BMW iPerformance Vehicles Stars of 2017 New York International Auto Show
At the New York International Auto Show, BMW featured the company's latest lineup, including the iPerformance plug-in hybrid electric vehicle family.
The BMW iPerformance vehicles make use of eDrive technology that has been borrowed from BMW i (the BMW brand that focuses on sustainability in vehicle concepts and technologies), applying it to core vehicles by way of electric motors, battery cells and electronic control systems.
The iPerformance vehicles that were featured throughout the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan were:
- The BMW 530e iPerformance, the newest member of the iPerformance line that made its worldwide debut in Detroit, which combines the eDrive electric concept with a 4-cylinder gas engine.
- The BMW 740e xDrive iPerformance, the flagship sedan, which partners electric, locally emissions-free mobility with the all of the comfort features you expect from a BMW 7 Series.
- The BMW 330e iPerformance, which unites a TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine with an electric motor to produce a combined 248 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.
- The BMW X5 xDrive40e I Performance Sport Activity Vehicle, which has the honor of being the company's first plug-in hybrid and teams a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine with a lithium-ion battery-powered electric motor.
