We’ll help you decide which one that is in our BMW X5 vs. Audi Q7 comparison. Keep reading to learn about the similarities and differences between these two luxury models, and feel free to contact BMW of Annapolis if you have any questions!

X5 vs Q7 Cabin Space

bmw x5The biggest difference between the 2019 BMW X5 vs. 2019 Audi Q7 is in the standard seating capacity. While the Q7 seats seven people among three rows, the X5 seats five people among two rows. However, the X5 can seat seven people when you get the optional third row.

Although the X5 normally seats less people, you’ll find more headroom in the front, with a roomy 40.8 inches. The Q7, on the other hand, has just 39.9 inches of front headroom, so taller riders may feel a bit more cramped.

There’s also more cargo room in the BMW model, which is helpful when storing items of all shapes and sizes. When the back row is folded flat, you’ll have 72.3 cubic feet of space to work with. Unfortunately, the Q7 has just 69.9 cubic feet of cargo space when the second and third rows are folded down. As a result, you may be a bit limited on what you can pack into the Audi vehicle.

2019 X5 vs 2019 Q7 Interior Features

2019 BMW X5 Interior blackThe BMW X5 and Audi Q7 live up to their luxury brand names, especially in their refined, well-built cabins that are filled to the brim with high-quality materials.

Both models offer leather seating: Vernasca leather in the X5, and Valcona leather in the Q7. With interior trim options like Fineline Stripe Brown High-Gloss Wood and High-Gloss Black/Oak Gray Wood, you’ll have a truly sophisticated interior no matter which vehicle you opt for.

Additionally, both SUVs offer tons of amenities to help keep everyone comfortable, such as:

  • Heated/ventilated front seats
  • Heated rear seats
  • Heated steering wheel

The X5 also offers 20-way power-adjustable multi-contour front seats, which will quickly and easily get you into your ideal seating position. Not only that, but heated and cooled cupholders are also available! Whether you have an ice-cold water bottle or a warm cup of coffee, this vehicle can help keep your beverage at the optimal temperature.

In comparison, the Q7 has 12-way power-adjustable front seats in its highest trim level, and unfortunately, it doesn’t offer heated and cooled cupholders at all.

BMW X5 vs Audi Q7 Performance Specs

bmw x5If you’re looking for a powerful SUV that can handle any road, either the 2019 X5 or 2019 Q7 would be a great fit. However, you may find a bit more power in the BMW model.

The X5’s standard 3.0L 6-cylinder engine delivers 335 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque, while its available 4.4L V8 engine churns out a robust 456 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. Meanwhile, the most powerful engine in the Audi vehicle, a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine, gives you 329 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque—less than what you’d find even in the X5’s standard engine.

Fuel economy ratings are a bit better in the X5 as well, as it earns an EPA-estimated 20 city/26 highway MPG. The Q7 is pretty close behind, offering an EPA-estimated 19 city/25 highway MPG. In the end, however, that could lead to more trips to the gas station to refuel.
