The Components of Music Therapy
At Annapolis Music Therapy Services, their program consists of four extensive components:
- Receptive: Engaging with a client through a hands-on musical experience to facilitate and strengthen emotional development.
- Active: The team will work with the client to encourage playing instruments, singing, or dancing and moving to music to further enhance and stimulate their physical control, social interaction, and self-expression.
- Improvisational: The team will work with the client to facilitate impromptu music-making in order to trigger nonverbal support and emotional maturation.
- Compositional: Perhaps the most creative part of the four-step program, the credentialed musicians will provide a network of support that’ll allow the client to write and perform music that can help them understand and process their emotions.
