xDrive All-Wheel Drive

All three engines come paired with an 8-speed Sport Automatic transmission with Automatic Sport and Manual shift modes.

The 3.0L engine comes with your choice between front-wheel drive or xDrive all-wheel drive (AWD). The xDrive system is very useful for driving around Maryland, since we tend to experience all four seasons.

It works by automatically adjusting torque distribution based on your specific conditions to enhance traction control. With this smart AWD system, your BMW 7 Series will have all-weather handling capabilities.

Aside from the three core models, the BMW 7 Series also has a sporty M760i model that comes with a V12 engine and produces 601 horsepower. There’s also a hybrid 745e xDrive model and an ALPINA B7 model with a V8 engine that generates 600 horsepower.

Technology Features

Now that we’ve seen the power under the hood of this sedan, let’s look at the technology features offered by the BMW 7 Series.

As for smart safety features, there’s the available Active Driving Assistant suite. This includes systems like:

  • Frontal Collision Warning
  • Active Blind Spot Detection
  • Lane Departure Warning

It also comes equipped with available automatic high beams. These automatically toggle your high beams on and off based on the flow of oncoming cars or traffic signals. With this feature, you can focus all your attention on navigating in low-visibility conditions instead of adjusting your headlights.

Dynamic Cruise Control is available as well. This system can automatically adjust your cruise control speed when you approach slower-moving vehicles on the highway. It can also bring you to a stop when you hit stand-still traffic and get you moving again when the traffic begins to flow.

Inside the cabin, the BMW 7 Series comes with the iDrive 7.0 system, complete with a 10.25-inch touchscreen display. This is compatible with Apple CarPlay™ smartphone integration and Bluetooth® wireless for hands-free connectivity.

With these technologies, you can play your favorite road trip playlist through your car’s speakers and really turn up the volume on the available Harman Kardon® Surround Sound Audio System. It includes a 464-watt amplifier and 16 speakers placed strategically around the cabin.
